Disappointing Products

I know a lot of people usually write reviews of products they really enjoyed or were really impressed by, but I decided to do something a bit different (and in my opinion, more helpful in choosing the right products for you!)

Here are some products I have either heard great reviews on or bought on a whim-- thinking that it would be the greatest decision of my life that day-- but ended up really disappointing me and not living up to its hype or just didn't really work out for me and were therefore returned, given away or is currently collecting dust in my room.

(I am not going to sugar coat anything for you guys so that you'll get my honest opinion. I'm going to be very blunt because I don't want you guys to go through the disappointment I went through!!)

1. Givenchy Mister Light Corrective Pen ($35) [Shade: Mister Milk]

I was really excited to finally buy this product since I have been on the fence about it for quite a long time and when I finally got to give it a go, I knew this just wasn't going to work out for me.

I really tried to love this product. I mean believe me--I REALLY tried but I just don't see what the fuss is all about for this product. Yeah, its OK but not top notch. I also personally don't like how this is a "twist and wait for the product to come out" applicator and I feel like the brush itself absorbs a lot of the product during the application process.

Eh, it's not great but it's not that bad either. Would I repurchase? Probably not. I bought the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer shortly after I bought this product and haven't touched it since. I still carry it in my makeup bag though, just in case.

2. Givenchy Eclat Matissime (Airy Light Fluid Foundation) ($51) [Shade: Mat Porcelain]

Ah yes. Another disappointing Givenchy product.
Don't get me wrong guys, this stuff is real nice. I also wanted to love this product but sadly, it just didn't work for my skin type. For all you dry skin people out there, stay away from this product.

I have dry patches around my nose and sometimes my cheeks and this foundation really enhances those features. Just didn't work out for me just for that reason. However, this was one of the few foundations that matched my skin tone (I got this in Mat Porcelain and it was PERFECT). If you have normal, oily or combination skin, I would give this product a try (only if you're willing to splurge $51 on a 1oz foundation, eek!)

3. Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream ($42)

Total moisture?! More like total oil spill on yo face.

This facial cream made me really oily and greasy throughout the day. Even when I used this as an night time product, ugh I just didn't like the way it felt so heavy on my skin. It rather made me feel more dry(?) and just oiled up all over. It could be just me though.

On the bright side, my mom seems to be loving this product so I just gave it to her. I guess it's ok since I didn't waste any money and someone actually seems to enjoy it!! She has normal skin.

So, if you have oily, dry or combination skin, save yourself the trouble. Or try it if you want to still (but I warned you.)

4. Too Faced Primed and Poreless Pressed Powder ($30)

I honestly got this product because my favorite youtuber Claire Marshall aka HeyClaire mentioned this is one of her old favorites videos. So naturally, being the Claire's favorite products bandwagoner, I had to get my hands on this product. For a while, I thought I loved it but I don't think it did anything for reducing oilyness and whatnot. It was just ok. Not that great for me, but it could be great for you!

I'm 50/50 on this one but not gonna lie, I was disappointed in the product as well. Thought it would work wonders but it clearly didn't for me.

Rating: 5/10 (?)

*although I do love the Too Faced Primed and Poreless Primer (part of my everyday routine)

5. Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil ($18) [Color: Endless Guava]

This was returned the day after I got it. I thought the color was really pretty and would be pretty useful because you can use it on your lips and cheeks but eh, it's greasy and the color doesn't really have a strong staying power.

That's all I gotta say about this one.

Rating: 3/10

6. Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge ($18)

**I really really liked using this sponge to remove my makeup with a foaming cleanser. It actually worked really nicely. But of course, pricey sponges can't last forever, right? -_-

This started to fall apart after about 3 weeks of everyday use. For $18, that is not worth it. I was expecting to use this for at least 3 months (the back of the box says to replace it every 3 months) (I didn't realize until after I got home and opened the product to try it out) (I wouldn't have gotten it if I knew I had to replace it so often) (do you get where I'm going with this)

Not worth it. I'm sure you can find better sponges or cloths to remove your makeup for a fraction of the price.

Rating: 7/10 (for the actual product)
Rating: 1/10 (for the ridiculously overpriced sponge)

7. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain ($35) [Color: 27 Peche Cerra-Cola]

I honestly liked this product and thought that this coral pink color was gorgeous. The only reason why I'm disappointed by it is because the day I wore it, my mom said I looked like I just devoured a whole jar of kimchi by looking at my lips.

Returned it after she said that. Thanks a lot mom.
I blame my mom and not YSL. (LOL)

Rating: 8/10 (product)
Rating: 1/10 (for my mom's sass)

8. Burt's Bees Sensitive Facial Cleansing Towelettes ($6)

These sting my face and don't do a good job getting heavy makeup off.
The original ones are a lot better (in my opinion)

Rating: 2/10

9. Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh ($89)
I thought I loved it??? but it makes my head hurt so much whenever I wear this (although it's not the products fault, it's my own preference) and it does not last very long at all. I feel like I spray it and once I leave the house, it's gone but it creeps up on you and gives you a massive headache. So now it just sits on my windowsill. At least it's pretty to look at.
